Chelsea Nesbitt – from junior choir to ECMA stage
The Chelsea Nisbett who sang in the Junior Choir at St. John the Baptist in Riverview was a cute-as-a-button little girl. She started singing publicly on her own at the church’s Young Musicians Program under former organist James Duffett. The Chelsea Nisbett nominated for two East Coast Music Awards (ECMAs) is a confident and beautiful young woman with a mature voice, strong faith and a successful CD.

Generations 2008 National Anglican Youth Ministry Forum
Sponsorship of some delegates ensures every diocese in the Anglican Church of Canada is able to send delegates to this exciting event to be held at Huron University College in London, Ontario June 10-15. The Campus Ministry and chaplaincy office for the Rev. Canon George M. Porter, D.Phil. recently moved to a new temporary location on the second floor of Bridges House (room 216A), just down the hill from the SUB on the UNB Fredericton campus. George <george.porter at anglican.nb.ca> is available to students, faculty or staff and is on campus most Tuesdays.

The Lambeth Conference takes place at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, July 16 through August 4 this year. Please pray that God will grant the workers and delegates wisdom in preparation, openness to God’s inspiration, and blessing in activity.

The Ven. Stuart Allan, Archdeacon of Saint John and rector of Trinity Church, will retire on Aug. 1.
The Rev. Keith Osborne of Pennefield is appointed Regional Dean of St. Andrews, effective March 1 of this year through Feb. 28, 2009
Condolences to the family and friends of Linda Barry-Hollowell, a Saint John born lawyer who donated 10 per cent of her time to pro-bono work, served the Anglican Church at every level and was wife of Barry Hollowell, former bishop of Calgary. She died in Calgary on Jan. 23 following a long battle with leukemia. The Anglican Journal and the Telegraph-Journal both carried articles on her life and many contributions to the church and society.
The Rev. Royden Ferris died at Kennebec Manor Nursing Home in Saint John on Jan. 25. Although he leaves no family to mourn him, his friendly and cheerful demeanour ensured his many friends will. There was a private interment service in Saint John. Those who wish to make donations in his memory are invited to contribute to the parishes where he served: Cambridge & Waterborough, Bright, Gagetown, Minto and Chipman, Stanley, St. James (Saint John) and Campobello.
A Celebration of New Ministry, Induction and Holy Eucharist for the Rev. William Morton as Priest and Rector of the Parish of St. Stephen at Christ Church St. Stephen will take place Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. The officiant is Archdeacon Vicars Hodge. Everyone is invited, all clergy and layreaders are invited to vest, the liturgical colour of the day is purple. Refreshments will follow the service.

Here's the good news!
The Faith for a Lifetime Campaign total as Of Dec. 31, 2007 was $619,597.34. This total does not include the $100,000 loan we received from the Anglican Foundation. In 2007 the campaign raised more than $143,172.05 in donations and approximately $3,800 in renewed pledges. Our monthly average increase in the campaign total over the 35 months of the campaign is still $17,702.78.
To date the campaign has provided more than $642,025.21 in new cash for the camps building projects: $414,703.84 in donations, $127,321.37 in payments on pledges and a cheque from the Anglican Foundation for $100,000 in the form of a 20 year loan. New cash for 2007 totaled $284,830.58. The average monthly cash inflow to the diocese over the 35 months of the campaign was $15,486.43.

Bishop Mark MacDonald said the welcome that he has received as the Anglican Church of Canada’s first national indigenous bishop has been “phenomenal,” with communities – both native and non-native – “expressing goodwill” towards his role as well as the concept of having a self-determining church for indigenous Anglicans in Canada.

When Grand Chief Stan Beardy of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) visited the General Synod offices on Jan. 21, he had two main messages for the Anglican Church of Canada: help advocate for Aboriginal rights, and allow Aboriginals to take greater responsibility for their own leadership within the church.

Anglican World suspends publication, moves to Web-based format

Publication of a paper version of Anglican/Episcopal World magazine, published quarterly by the Anglican Communion office in London, has been suspended in favour of an e-mail distribution model, said Canon Kenneth Kearon, secretary general of the Communion.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams today launched the official programme for Lambeth Conference 2008 Equipping Bishops for Mission at Lambeth Palace. Joining Dr Williams on the panel were Archbishop Ellison Pogo (Archbishop of Melanesia and Chairman of the Design Group) and Archbishop Ian Ernest (Archbishop of the Province of the Indian Ocean). Mrs Jane Williams outlined the plans for the Spouses' Conference which is being held alongside the bishops' conference. Jane Williams was joined by Margaret Sentamu. 30 bishops from 17 provinces around the Anglican Communion also joined the press conference.
