2010 budget supports vision and ministry
By Ana Watts
At its meeting in Woodstock on Nov. 7, Diocesan Council approved the Shared Ministry Budget for 2010. With total expenditures of $1,671,465, it will be funded by $1,476,190 from the parishes and $195,275 from interest and other sources. In presenting the budget for approval, Finance Committee chair Gerald McConaghy said the 2010 budget reflects priorities and actions as directed by Diocesan Synod and Diocesan Council. “Except for additional funds to pursue those priorities, the budget remains relatively unchanged.” Read the story.
News from Ho
So far Archbishop Claude Miller, his wife Sharon, the Rev. Jasmine Chandra (traveling as a 'civilian' because her ordination would offend many in Ghana) and Heather Miller, traveling in our Companion Diocese of Ho, have risked life and limb on a canopy walk in Kakum National Park, visited Cape Coast castle where the British held the slaves they shipped to North America, tried palm wine, danced up a storm, fallen in love with myriad children, worshipped in schools, swum with alligators and eaten chicken and rice for dinner every night. In the most recent post to Heather's blog, Jasmine wrote "The perseverance under immense struggle of the churches here is a powerful witness to us. Already we are changed." Don't miss a minute of the adventure or any of the photos, check Heather's blog every day.

Church aims to root out racism with creative training, resources
by Ali Symons
Anglican Church of Canada
Nov. 13, 2009
It looks like a strange kind of line dancing. In the middle of a church hall, a string of men and women silently hold hands. A woman from the side says, "If you've ever been told ‘you're a credit to your race,'" take one step back." Several people—Black and Aboriginal—drop back. The woman speaks again: "If your parents spoke English as their first language, take one step forward." Several others inch ahead. The line is now jagged and people reach and bend to keep holding hands. Read the story.

All tithes from the land, whether the seed from the ground or the fruit from the tree, are the Lord’s; they are holy to the Lord. If persons wish to redeem any of their tithes, they must add one-fifth to them. All tithes of herd and flock, every tenth one that passes under the shepherd’s staff, shall be holy to the Lord.
