Vacation Bible club big fun for big crowd

This past summer in Hampton, 117 three to 12-year-olds went on a Quest for Truth. Dakota Joe, a bumbling archeologist, and his clever dog Digger led the children’s quest to find the Keeper of the Truth Artifact. At the end of vacation Bible club week they found the treasure chest. Inside it was a New Testament Bible for each child, courtesy of the Gideons.Vacation Bible club crowd

For the past 10 years vacation Bible club has been an annual summer event at St. Paul’s in Hampton. The many people in the parish who donate their time and effort assure its wonderful success. The people at St. Paul’s consider it a serious youth outreach ministry in the community.

Donna Leonard was this year’s capable director. The Rev. Leo Martin, rector of the parish, took on the role of Dakota Joe and Michelle Leonard was his clever dog Digger.

The week ended with an evening closing feast and worship service, so parents and friends were able to be present and get a taste of what the children learned all week. The group singing at this event was heard outside the church building and offered a taste of vacation Bible club fun to the neighbourhood. The children had a wonderful time and their parents’ comments were very positive.

St. Paul’s vacation Bible club is offered free of charge to all the children of the community. If they are able, they are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for the local food bank, another important parish mission.
