Youth & Campus Ministries Discernment Day
A recent youth ministries discernment day revealed two priorities: as a diocese we must explore ways to engage youth in worship (as also identified in the past two youth consultations); and we must provide occasions for further networking opportunities among diocesan youth leaders.
Youth Action Director George Porter invited those involved in ministries with young people around the diocese to gather for this day of prayer, dialogue and feed-back concerning directions and focus in diocesan youth and campus ministries for the next two years. On a snowy
Saturday morning in December, 14 of brave souls gathered for the event on the UNB Fredericton Campus. George and Christian Education/Camp Medley director Liz Harding spent the day with them as well. She and George are still processing some of the other information gleaned from the event.
Among the 14 involved in ministries with young people who attended the Fredericton event in December were (left to right above) Cheryl Jacobs, Archdeacon Vicars Hodge, and Pat Warner.
Cathedral Puppeteers, Katie Dunn and Warren Macaulay are just a
couple of young New Brunswick Anglicans who were also busy with ministry in December. They took part in the annual Christmas in Gagetown presentation. This fun public event includes a puppet presentation on the true meaning of Christmas. Each year after the show, Clare and Leith Box of Gagetown host a party for the puppeteers.
Fun and games are an important part of the annual Manna day organized by Liz Harding. The 2007 theme was “Have ya heard: there is no-one like Jesus.” The young people and leaders who attended each year have a great day playing, learning and building relationships.
