Looking for a soul-stirring
African adventure?
by Ana Watts
The Companion Diocese Committee seeks two people who would like to spend six months or a year in the Diocese of Ho, in Ghana, Africa as Volunteers in Mission.
A few years ago Michael (now the Rev.) and Anna Caines spent several months at the Bishop McAllister School in Uganda with the Rev. Canon Paul Jefferies, who started his African life as a teacher in our first companion diocese of Eldoret in Kenya. They taught several classes in the school, including music, and Michael was very helpful in some building projects.
If you have faith and skills to share and the time to make a difference, this is a golden opportunity. Expertise and support are available through the Volunteers in Mission program of the National Church.
Volunteering overseas is an opportunity for Canadian Anglicans to learn first-hand about the life, work, worship and witness of Christians in different cultures and/or countries of the Anglican Communion. It is a blessing to share faith, knowledge, skills and personal presence in the service of Christ and his church.
