To express and challenge the stewardship mind of Diocesan Council and to vitalize a comprehensive and holistic approach to stewardship education and development in the Diocese of Fredericton. Roles and Responsibilities
Brief Description and Mandate
  To express and challenge the stewardship mind of Diocesan Council and to vitalize a comprehensive and holistic approach to stewardship education and development in the Diocese of Fredericton. The Team will use the Five Marks of Mission and the current Bishop’s Charge to guide its priorities and reflect upon the ministry which is taking place.
On-going Responsibilities and Reporting
 
  • Assure consistent leadership in the area of stewardship development in the Diocese of Fredericton
  • Promote and encourage the use of e-offering as an effective tool for the practice of biblical financial stewardship
  • Promote and foster conversations about all aspects of stewardship and support providing education and resources to individuals, parishes and the wider community
  • Maintain a listing of resources for use in meeting the educational, conversational and awareness raising goals regarding stewardship
  • Uphold and affirm the biblical tithe as the Diocesan standard of Christian giving.
  • Organize and execute a Diocesan Stewardship conference annually.
  • Through the Diocesan Stewardship Officer, work with representatives of the General Synod stewardship financial development team to fulfill and maintain the on-going partnership with the Diocese of Fredericton
  • Through the Diocesan Stewardship Officer, develop and maintain a program of planned giving
  • As one of the seven working teams of the Council, reports to Diocesan Council directly and at each of its regular meetings
Membership
  Ex-officio: Bishop, Executive Archdeacon, Treasurer, Stewardship Officer and appointed Territorial Archdeacon
Members: Membership of interested individuals, clergy and lay, with a passion for the education and facilitation of the widespread practice of healthy and effective Christian stewardship; at least three clergy and three lay members from whom one is appointed the Chair. One of the six to be a member of Diocesan Council.
Budget
  Team meeting expenses; Annual Diocesan conference expenses; programming expenses as determined.
