Youth and Intergenerational Ministries Team

Mandate   Current Membership
The Youth and Intergenerational (YIG) Ministries team is a combination of appointed members of Diocesan Council and highly motivated youth leaders throughout the Diocese of Fredericton. Its vision is to assist and support parishes in regards to all areas of youth ministry (children, youth and families) into the 21st Century; dealing with the various issues and challenges of our today’s youth. The team focuses on two areas; developing disciples in our youth through training and mission opportunities and training and developing leaders in regards to new, modern and innovative youth ministry practices.   Gary Hoyt

  • Diocesan Youth Ministries Conference, September 30, Sackville

  • CLAY 2018, August 15-19, Thunder Bay: It hasn't been long since our first participation of CLAY (Canadian Lutheran and Anglican Youth) in Charlottetown but the next one is just around the corner. We would like to represent New Brunswick better this time and are looking for youth between the ages of 14-19 by December 31, 2018 (born 1999-2004) to join our CLAY team(s). If you are interested or know any youth, or you want an information session or additional information, contact Jason Smith. Registration is not yet open but it doesn't hurt to start planning and fundraising now.

Roles and Responsibilities
Brief Description and Mandate
  The Youth and Intergenerational Ministries team (YIG) is a combination of appointed members of Diocesan Council and highly motivated youth leaders throughout the Diocese of Fredericton. Its vision is to assist and support parishes in regards to all areas of youth ministry (children, youth and families) into the 21st Century; dealing with the various issues and challenges of our today’s youth. The team focuses on two areas; developing disciples in our youth through training and mission opportunities and training and developing leaders in regards to new, modern and innovative youth ministry practices.
On-going Responsibilities and Reporting
 
  • Support and train leaders
  • Assist parishes
  • Communicate with Diocesan Council and Diocese regarding Youth Ministry
  • Support and promote:
    • Teens Encounter Christ
    • St. Michael’s Conference
    • Choir School
    • Camp Medley
    • Camp Brookwood
    • National and Provincial Anglican events such as CLAY and Ask & Imagine, etc.
  • Work with Director of Youth and Intergenerational Ministries concerning budget and program
Budget
  Establishing an ongoing budget to ensure innovative youth ministry occurs within the Diocese that fits within the goals and focus of the Bishop and Diocesan Council. There will also be consultation with the Treasurer and the Finance Committee.
Membership
  Archdeacon and members appointed by council, together with those invited by the Chair with consultation with the Nominating Committee.
